them's the breaks

why is it so hard to get over people & move on? I've quit smoking. Thats addictive, something they have support lines to help you through. But that dosent bring you down like a break up does.

i know that emotions are not rational, just talking about it dont always help. justin explains that in time you 'just turn off. You'll realise something and then you run with it'. Rod from work explains 'that you have to get angry at them' (thus make a distance i assume). emma reminds me that 'puppet, you dont believe that people fall in love with just one person, dont let this get you down.'

the brief-therapy text book that i flicked through in the uni library explians that 'solutions dont always come from the problem itself. sometimes we have to talk ourselves into a solution, the way we can talk ourselves into a problem'. im not quite sure what i want my solution to be.

folk wisdom explains: 'time heals all wounds'. i'm better than before, but i've still got a way to go.

Hey Dave,

I suspect this is blog spam so don't click on the links, I'd delete it if I were you.

We should talk again on sunday night.

Unfortunately the adbot above didn't have any wise words for you, and I don't know if mine will be much better, but here goes.

I guess everyone has their special sure-fire way of getting over an ex lover. What I've learned is that there's no sure-fire way.

What works for one individual might not work for another, and what helps during a particular breakup is not guaranteed to work again.

In my experience the toughest part is actually deciding to move on - to finally relinquish what was.

Ultimately, you know what's best for you at the time. Remember too, that your friends will always be there.

xx.

memory is the trap. you remember the good times and the bad times and it makes no sense. talking helps turn memory to myth, makes it take on the shiney gloss of nostalgia, makes the past more distant but retains the warmth of happiness, talking gives perspective. the body moves you forward, movement frees you from the past and holds you now and makes you so immediately present and in moving you find yourself free to move. Dance, and your body will show you the way. We all know how you love to dance :-)
